a few words about Stockholm
Stockholm is the capital and largest city of Sweden as approximately one fifth of the population live in the Stockholm metropolitan area. Stockholm alone has a population of over 800,000. Stockholm is Sweden's metropolis, the centre of the parliament, government, media and the official residence of the Swedish monarch. Not only is its waterfront and adjacent Stockholm Archipelago one of a kind, but the old parts of Stockholm with its history and culture are spectacular in their own kind.
The strategic location of the city on fourteen islands on the south-central east coast of Sweden at the mouth of Lake Malaren, by the Stockholm Archipelago, has been historically important. Since the city is built on islands and known for its beauty this city has also been called "Venice of the North". The city is known for its beauty, its buildings, its water and parks. Stockholm is one of the most visited cities of the Nordic Countries, with over 1 million international tourists every year.
